There have never been so many opportunities
for not-for-profit organisations, both large and small, to
communicate their messages through the media. But the media
needs to be handled with care. Get it right and the benefits
can outweigh the cost-effectiveness of advertising many times
over. Get it wrong and the damage to your organisation’s
reputation can be substantial.
The secret to successful media interviews
is good preparation.
JMR Consultants has joined with Television News Release Ltd
(TNR), one of this country’s major suppliers of corporate
communications services, to provide a range of high quality
PR and training services to not-for-profit organisations.
TNR is based at - and partly owned by - The Press Association,
the UK’s major news agency. As a result, it is in a
unique position to deliver effective corporate communications.
The TNR Media Training Service was launched only after extensive
market research indicated that there was real value to be
added over and above what was already available elsewhere.
Whether for Press, Radio, TV or any combination of media,
TNR tailor-makes each course to suit the particular needs
of the individuals being trained. Training is based on the
three Rs - Research, Relevance and Realism:
-
Research Clients
are frequently surprised to find how much TNR knows about
their organisation and the delegates being trained. TNR
trainers brief themselves at least as well as any journalist
before conducting an in-depth newspaper or broadcast interview.
-
Relevance TNR does not subscribe to the ‘one course
fits all’ philosophy. Your training requirements
will be discussed in detail and a course schedule constructed
that is designed to meet the specific needs of the delegates
being trained.
-
Realism All TNR trainers are practising journalists currently
active within the media. When the trainee enters the TV
or Radio studio, it is exactly the same as going ‘on
air’. Delegates experience the nerves of a real
media interview; developing the confidence to deliver
key messages while dealing with nerves is the key to TNR’s
training.
